The distinguished personality claims he started from the scratch gave most of what he  inherited to charity.


(1) He is ALIKO MUHAMMAD DANGOTE (GCON), Billionaires business man and an investor.He was born on the 10th of april, 1957. He is presently 63 years old.



(2) He was born to a wealthy muslim family in kano, Nigeria.

 His father, MOHAMMED DANGOTE was a politician and also a businessman ,who died when aliko was only 8 years old. While his mother is MARIYA SANUSI DANTATA.



(3) He  is presently single after divorce and has three children and one adopted son, ABDULRAHMAN FASASI.


(4) His great grand father,ALHAJI ALHASSAN DANTATA was the richest west african at the time of his death. 

While his grand father SANUSI DANTATA was a one of the richest in kano, their place of residence.

(6) Started trading while in primary school.

He said and I qoute:

" I can remember when I was in primary school, I would go and buy cartons of sweet and would start selling them just to make money.I was so interested in business, even at that time".


(7) At, the age of 21, DANGOTE borrowed 3000 DOLLARS  from his uncle to import  agricultural commodities like rice and sugar from THAILAND AND BRASIL and then sell it in Nigeria acting as a MIDDLE MAN.


(8) Acting as a MIDDLE MAN, he claimed that on his best days, he was realizing a daily net profit of 10,000 DOLLARS, 

that allowed him to pay his uncle in only 3 MONTHS.


(9) DANGOTE later moved from being a MIDDLEMAN TO becoming a PRODUCER, considering that most of goods are being imported and not made in the country.


(10) He started producing commodities like FLOUR, SUGAR,SALT and CEMENT 

and has major investment in REAL ESTATE, BANKING, TRANSPORT, TEXTILES , OIL AND GAS .


 (11) DANGOTE GROUP does not only operate in NIGERIA, but also operate in other African countries like, ZAMBIA,SOUTH AFRICA, TOGO,CAMEROON,TANZANIA,ETHIOPIA,

BENIN REPUBLIC, GHANA, Etc.



(12) During an interview with aljazera News DANGOTE explained and I qoute:

" we (DANGOTE group) are not doing like other other Africans who keep most of their money in the bank.

We do not keep money in the bank. We fully invest whatever we have, and we keep on investing".


 (13) THE BUSINESSMAN  also have plans of buying the English football team ARSENAL, his favourite football team,

"That can only be possible after he complete his oil refinery project " DANGOTE said to david ro during an interview. 




(14) DANGOTE GROUP is the biggest industrial group in the western Africa region with ABOUT  30,000 EMPLOYEES.


(15)  DANGOTE CEMENT is the largest producer of cement in AFRICA, with about 80 percent of his conglomerate's revenue coming from the cement company.


(16)DANGOTE SUGAR REFINERY is the largest in Africa and the third largest in the world, producing 800,000 TONNES OF SUGAR ANNUALLY.


(17) DANGOTE's 14 BILLION DOLLARS REFINERY has been under construction since 2016 and is expected to be ONE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST REFINERY once completed, with a capacity for 650,000 BARRELS PER DAY.


(18) Took him over four decades to built his empire to where they are today,

and for the ninth time in a row,dangote was the richest man in Africa , 

also in 2020 with a net worth of 10.9 BILLION DOLLARS.
